Dolly the Sheep Clone

Dolly the Sheep Clone

Dolly the sheep is the most famous sheep that ever lived. She was born on July 5th of 1996 and lived till the age of 6 and died on February 14th, 2003. She was famous because she was the first animal to ever be cloned and to ever to be created from an adult cell. She was cloned by Ian Wilmut, Keith Campbell at the Roslin Institute University of Edinburgh in Scotland. Dolly was the best result scientists could ever have in clones because after trying 227times the experiment finally worked and dolly was created.
Dolly was created because the Roslin Institute wanted to test the development of cloning.  They wanted to see if Dolly was an animal that could have been “Transgenic,” just like mice were. As they preceded the process of creating Dolly they had to go through a lot of reprogramming. The creators of dolly were to take a good program adult cell and restore it to its condition.  “They were to also replace the nucleus of the egg cell with the nucleus from the parent cell - in Dolly's case, an udder cell. Somehow, the egg cell reprogrammed the donated DNA contained within its new nucleus, and Dolly was the result.” In easy terms is familiar to when a women and male mate and the sperm cell of the male produces inside the women and form into baby, but in this case Dolly was implanted it into a Scottish Blackface ewe.
After Dolly was born she started living a healthy and normal life as she started growing. One of the most beautiful things they allow Dolly to do was to breed with another sheep and have babies. She productively produced 6 lambs, when she first got pregnant she had one baby and afterwards she had twins the following year, and the year after the twins she had triplets.  Years past and her babies grew healthy, but as those years pass Dolly encounter trouble with walking. She was analyzed and she was found with arthritis and lung cancer. The scientists treated her by injecting her with anti-inflammatory drugs. After she was discover with lung cancer. She was treated with more with care but after they saw they couldn’t do anything else after all her test, they had end her life with overdose.
Before Dolly died she would have a daily life which was to be a normal like any other sheep there was. She lived her entire life in the Roslin Institute were she would be watch and would be take care of day and night. The only defect she had in her daily life was old because she was cloned from the cells of an older sheep. Even though she was old and was a clone she would eat grass just like normal sheep. Literally Dolly had a life of real sheep she wasn’t even treated like a clone.
